Small Room, Big Style
Most players start with a single small room. The key is not more space — it is smarter layout. This guide shows you exactly how to maximize every tile.
The 4-Tile Rule
Every room has a 4-tile walkway rule. You need at least 4 tiles of clear walking space between major furniture pieces. Plan your layout around this rule first, then fill in the gaps.
Starter Room Layout (6m x 6m)
Left wall: Bed (2 tiles) + Wardrobe (1 tile). Leave 1 tile gap to the wall.
Right wall: Stove (1 tile) + Preparation counter (1 tile). Keep these together for cooking efficiency.
Center: 4-tile walkway. Place a small rug (1 tile) in the middle.
Corners: Cat bed (2 tiles) in one corner. Plant pot in the opposite corner.
Multi-Function Room Layout
When you only have one room, it must serve as bedroom, kitchen, and living room. Here is the trick:
- Divide visually: Use rugs and wall decorations to create visual zones. A rug under the bed area separates it from the cooking area.
- Wall mounting: Shelves, wall lamps, and hanging plants save floor space. Mount everything you can.
- Dual-purpose furniture: A storage bench acts as seating AND storage. A dining table doubles as a cooking prep surface.
Budget Furniture Priority
- Bed upgrade: Better bed = faster energy recovery. Craft or buy the best you can afford.
- Second stove: Double cooking output. Craft at workbench (timber + ore).
- Storage: Wardrobe or chest. You need somewhere to put things.
- Lighting: Floor lamp or wall sconce. Good lighting improves the room feel.
- Decorations: Plants, paintings, rugs. These boost your home score for NPC visits.
Common Layout Mistakes
- Blocking the door with furniture — leave 2 tiles clear in front of the door.
- Putting the stove against the bed — separate cooking from sleeping zones with at least 4 tiles.
- Too many large items — one 3-tile sofa takes half the room. Use 1-tile chairs instead.
